Project 4: Marie Short House Replica

For the second semester of my first year of college, part of my studio project was study a precedent and come up with models and drawings which studied it. The precedent my partner and I chose was Marie Short House in Australia, by architect Glenn Murcutt. We worked together on a large 1/2-inch-scale physical model which features all of the relevant structure, wall, and façade details, such as louvres, sliding doors, and columns which elevate the one-story building above the ground. The base is a three-layer-MDF-board system wherein half of the building slides out along drawer roller guides so you can see inside. Other interior views are provided by horizontal openings along the roof.
