Project 6: La Casa de la Música
In my eighth semester at University of Houston, I along with the rest of my class was tasked with designing a modular home in Cancún which was connected to a store at the entrance. The building footprint was long and skinny, which presented an unusual challenge. The type of business I chose was a music store, and the first thing the person comes across when they enter the building is the shop itself. Clients can then go up one set of stairs to the music lessons space, but the rest of the building is private. The ground floor has the kitchen and the dining room in the back, the floor above has the living room and master bedroom, and the highest floor has the remaining bedroom. The stairs are separated by a wall that runs all the way from the ground level to the roof. Finally, there are two levels of occupiable roof space. There is the lower one, which contains an outdoor full band practice space, and a higher one, which is a balcony.
